Now planning to get into recruitment.. most of my friends are it recruiters. and they r suggesting me that IT Recruitment would fetch a good career and good money for me, rather than generalist HR or Core HR.

Dear Vishwanath,
I think it is good to get into recruitments as the consulting industry is growing exponentially! It is a good career provided you have the passion for it. The exposure you get in recruitments is great. Where are you located. Do let me know your email id and i'll let you know more about it.

Hi friend,
I worked as an IT Recruiter in a US based Co. for 9 months and now I am working as an HR don’t run after money look at your passion which really suits you. These days a graduate with comm. can become a recruiter. If you work in US recruitment process you have to work in the night shift. Try to do SAP HR it will be a good option for an MBA with some HR experience. At the end of the day its your option so be careful.
All the best for your future :D

Hi Vishwanath,
Its good to start as a recruiter . But remember most of the companies have started outsourcing recruitment activity rather than employing a HR recruiter. and 5 years down the line you would be feel that you are doing the same job even if your position raises to a senior manager.Because you will become master in recruitment but would not have any idea of other HR activities. whereas in case of HR Generalist you can have wide scope of learning and innovation. and there is a possibility to shift to other specific HR activities like T&D , Payroll ,or even a labour manager. its better to start as a HR Generalist because it gives a wide idea of HR activities.

Hi gayu,
Yes! what you said is absolutely right!! :)
down the line after 5yrs ill be master in recruitment. Plz could you let me, where can i make a good money either in Recruitment or in Generalist HR?
if money is the criterium then is recruitment good?
and i heard that recruitment is an area, where we have to work for incentives (targets).... How long i need to work on targets? Is entire recruitment target oriented?
what is your comment? :?:

Hi Vishwanath,
If money is the criteria .HR is not your cup of tea because in any organization HR is always paid less compared to marketing and finance .HR is a job of prestige and remember if you are sincere in your career you would surely earning more money in future becoz there would be a pay raise and raise in your designation which is obvious .just keeping money as a criteria freshers or any individual quits his / her education and jumps into a job not mapping their carreer that what they want to achieve 5 yrs down the line. So may be HR generalist would not provide a great salary but a prospective future
and HR recruiter would be given targets in he or she works in consulting companies and incentives would be provided but 5 yrs down the line growth would be???? as recruiting activties are outsourced you as a recruiter can join a consulting company in future or start your own but entry in corporate is cloudy....
Bye
