Dear Colleagues,
Briefly and quickly too I would just list the kind of Corporate Leave Periods that could be sought by an employee, however this is dependent on certain principles-eg. lenght of stay on the job, confirmation of marital status, urgency of need to take such days, medical confirmation of illness,
approval of study period etal....
*1. Casual Leave-this is a leave period that virtually all category of employee seem to be entitled to-this would range between 1 day and 5 days-most times it is for unexpected perosnal assignments.
*2. Sick Leave-this is most times ascertained or approved by a Medical practitioner, the employee having visited the hospital, the Doctor recommends a period of rest for such and this document is forwarded to the HR Department for necessary action/s-visitation etal
*3. Annual Leave -this is almost a statutory requirement of employers of labour to give to thier employees-this comes with an allowance/grant based on a particular payment plan-10% of annual basic salary etal
*4. Maternity/Parternity Leave-this is usually given to employees who have just delivered a child-in most culture it is the mother that enjoys such leave periods-3-6 months-but lately the fathers have started benefitting with minimal days as leave period-2-4 weeks
*5. Study Leave-this kind of leave period is given to employees who have been given admission for a particular educational study and most times have to be on campus or within the learning centres-they seek a leave period outside the office to allow them untake such educational assignment/s-this could be 1 year or two depending on the course duration.
*6. Sabbatical Leave-this is most times given to personnel in educational environment to allow them time to give for seemingly eduactional attachment a school/university of their choice-most times it is a period of 1 year-most lecturers subscribe to this.
*7. Leave of Abscence-this is a leave period given to an employee who wants to attend to some personal issues which if combined with his present employment might be too cumbersome-eg political appointment, governmental assignments etal
*8. Off Duty-this is usually given to employees who work on shift basis-security, nurses, medical practitioners, customer service, fire service, oil & gas personnels etal
However it should be noted that depending on the internal operations of the Firm concerned some of these leave periods do not have financial obligations attached to them eg Leave of Abscence.
Thanks.
