Dear friends,
I' m looking for any kind of source about management skills for line managers working at manufacturing, for my new training program. Unlike common leadership programs for top managers, this program will be for line managers who directly communicate with the workers.
I' ll be glad if you suggest me anything about this topic.
Thanks in advance,
Aysun

Dear Aysun

Irrespective of the Indusatry. those Managers/supervisors directly in touch with the workmen/staff/other operating people need to be covered wholistically on the age old concept

Knowledge

Skill

Attitude

1. Knoweldge

examine whether these people are knowledgble on the work related theories and if they are weak, internally you needs to cover them on some quick training if they dont improve on their knowledge level, you need to shift them as you can not train them too long on such subjects

2. Skill

A. Techically are they skilled and are you upgradinng their technical skills periodically. You can give them yearly inputs and whenever some change in the procees takes place, conduct trg programmes to ensure thay they are adequately equipped to handle doubts from workmen.

b. behavioural skill

communication is a very important skill. Can they give correct instrtcion and give them training on listening skill, instrution skill, oral communication. Very critical to the job

While developing their communication skill inputs on Perception plays a key role

Motivating skill is another area . key concept is that they should not show differentiation in handling people. Make them to understand that people have strengths and weaknesses let them not focus only on weaknesses

YOU CAN AN LIST A FEW MORE ITEMS BASED ON UR INDUSTRY AND YOUR REQUIREMENT

3. Attitude

Empathy and tolerance are very critical for this position than for any other position.

He/she must have the attitude to train people. Whenever doubt comes from workmen he should think from their view point and clear the doubts rather than saying...that is what it is and you do what I say

Your training programme should focus on these areas and little bit on Standing orders and labour law is also important for this level.
