Shops and establishment act holds good for tamilnadu also. Every state in india has got its own version. The pathetic thing in tamilnadu is the chapter 2 and 3 which deal with working hours and leave have been scrapped with a govt GO.

Dear All,
Shops Act is enacted by all the states in the country, as i said earlier, it differs from state to state. Tamil Nadu and Delhi, does not require registration under Shops and Establishment Act. In Rajasthan it is one time registration, there is no requirement of renewal. In all other states, registration is compulsory and renewal de[pends on the State Law. For example, in Maharahstra, renewal can be made for a year or for 3 years. In Kerala and AP every year. In Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, MP, Punjab and Haryana it is 3 to 5 years.
