Hi all,
Am new to the forum.I have done Master of Social Work with specialization in Labor welfare & Personnel management. It's been 2 years I have been working but still my career is not going on that well in terms of package. Does MSW don't have any value in the job market? If yes then can you please suggest me a short term management course that may help me to have a bright career ahead?
Am really concerned about my career as nothing is going well , Kindly advice.
Regards,
Neha

Dear Neha
No need to go for other course bcoz u have alredy done the hr degree with specialization.
let me know in which industry u r working. becoz as i am an MSW(HR&IR) graduate, very satisfied with my Qualification and job.

Dear Neha,

MSW has its own merrit. It all depends on how he or she projects during the interview or while at work. MBA from a reputed institute will have edge over us as they come from reputed institutions and are projected very high. No doubt these MBA students will put lot of efforts to learn and project themself and they show overall development in their activities. MSW from a reputed university is also good. But I have seen that MSW students do not project themselves and they are week in communication/presentation skills, shy and they will not come out of their shell They have to make efforts in improving these skills. I am also an MSW student from 1974 batch of Bangalore. But all my learning and improving my skills happened during my career. You will have to make a lot of efforts to compete with Premium institute MBAs. like IIMs ( not chota/mota MBAs from small institutes and part time MBA). MSW degree is much superior than these small time tatkal MBAs. Dont feel that MSW is low post graduate degree. I have retired as a Vice President -HR from a reputed organisations handling both HR and tough IR situataions. Still continuing to work as Head -HR in one of the reputed industry at the age of 61 years.

Have positive attitude and make efforts to learn good english, presentation skills, communication skills and body language. You will come up. of course knowledge of subject in which you are dealing. psudoculture or projections will not take any where.

regards
