dear seniors, what is exg-gratia amount regards zainul
From India, Lucknow
Hi
Ex-gratia is nothing but an amount paid by your employer for the good work carried out by you that is in addition to your usual carried salary / wage. This is usually paid to the employees who are in the good books of the employer.
This type of payments are to motivate the employees and get good amount of work from them for the achievement of end goals of the co.

Hi
Mr. Zainulaabdeen
Coming to the point of percentage of ex-gratia, there is no such percentage in labour law and even ex-gratia payament is not a statutory payment to any employee.
The employee pay ex-grata, out of the regards towards the employee's work, and say it is a reward, his extra amount of efficiency shown at work, His sincerity to wards work allotted, His commitment to wards the co. end goals and its achievements, Achievement of targets set by the organization etc etc, the employer make a payment of ex-gratia for motivating him for further boosting up of his activities and extract more of efficiency for the good of the organization.
More over ex-gratia is purely the discretion of the management/ employer not a statutory payment. There is no specified limit for ex-gratia payment by the employee.

Can ex gratia given to only reguar employees? that is for those who completed 240days or such critiria canbe fixed up
From India, Tiruppur
Hi
Mr. Rameshanpt
Ex-gratia can be given to any employee i.e. he/ she may be of regular, casual and NMR rolls, There is not lime period for completion to get an ex-gratia. Ex- gratia can be given to an employee by its employer for even a shot period of work he / she had done by which the employer got impressed for that work being carried out to his satisfaction and even beyond satisfaction and he may award an ex-gratia to that employee of his.
But in general the employees on regular rolls do only get ex-gratia by their employees in 99% cases.

Let me clearly understand what you have said, that is we are going to distribute ex gratia along with bonus before Pooja festival. Is it ok if we pay ex gratio only those who have minimum working days of 240 in the last 12 months. Please correct me if I am wrong
From India, Tiruppur
Hi
There is no need for an employee to work for 240 days in the last 12 months period for getting any ex-gratia, it is a reward by an employer for his extraordinary achievement in work that was entrusted, or for his efficiency shown to the satisfaction of the employer and what ever the reason be, it is a gratitude shown by the employer to an employer.
Ex-gratia can be paid at any point of time during a financial year, donot mix the same with any bonus payments, Bonus payments have their own act and rules.
