Hi Friends, I am working as IT recruiter in US staffing .Please suggest me how to find out fake resumes as we come across with n number of profiles.

In Resumes it is difficult to find out fake, If you think the candidate is suitable for the post,do the background verification once he serves for the probation period to the company. Now the days it is the challange to the HR professionals to find out the fakes resumes.
Once the candidate is coming for one to one, the HR can understand the person on his exposure for the questions. Even the canditates gone through, private dedective agences are doing the BV. Most of the cases will be come to light,, even If not possible .. god only knows.

It is difficult to find out fake or real time guy at CV glance. but if at all we get doubt in the resume, immediately we can do his ref check or we can ask his official mail ID / last drawn payslip.
i would like to share my experience in this regard. last week one of my consultant got selected by CMM level 5 company. we have issued offer and he accepted our offer also. i have shared document to be filled by him for Back ground check. after looking at that doc, he has not supported our process and not shared any of his certificates. i did his ref check and i came to know that he is not working none of the companies mentioned in the resume. so we recruiters should be more alert at the stage of offer / II level interivew, so that we can avoid backouts.

If they are shortlisted - talk to them and keep them posted that a Background reference check with the previous companies will be done by your end - once the offer is made. And only if he/she clears, they will be given the appointment by the client.

Hi Mastan,
Since it is the US Staffing, you can take the contact number mentioned in the profile and put it in the portals (Dice, Monster, etc..) if you get different profiles for the same contact number, then you can make it as a fake resume. Do not fix the time for the first level of telephonic interview just call them and ask them to describe about their previous / present project. If you fix the time then you should recognise the voice, because some guys make others to talk over the phone.

Ask them for Offical Mail Id
Desk Phone No.
Ask them to explain in breify about project
We can even find out on basis of designation but for this we need to have market knowledge
last but not least based on technologies he has worked

excellent sugegstion given by all the experts.....
there is no alternative to "Reference check" for any fake resume.....
On the face resume an imposter is a master of his trade and is difficult to make out. A foolish person will make silly mistakes which you can make out with experience : such as 1. Back to back Exp dates not match. 2. Basic education passing year clashing with working dates (exception are there here as well for people working and studying). 3. You can always call upon certificates from candidates, but lot of paper work.
These are just chances, but "Reference Check" is the best bet, but alas this would be done after selection, when you have already spent time on the candidate. Best of Luck...:icon4:

I agree with wht Ganesh said, but i have come across few candidates who maintained different mobile numbers and even diff email ID's for various years of experience ( new ph number, new Email ID for menationed year's of experience), so by this its very dufficult to trace them wether they have submitted fake Cv to us.One of the good meanthod is to check their permanent maling address along with passport Number if they hold any.

I agree with most of the suggestions made... However things are little different in USA recruitmen.

The best way to catch a candidate is by asking him all kinds of question, like:

1) When did he come to USA. (If he says its >= years then you need to ask him if he has apply for the GC as he cannot saty in USA for moer than 6 years without application of GC) Most of the people get caught here as they dont know about this clause.

2) Ask them about the graduation and check fo rthe overlapping dates if any.

3) Check for the project he has worked on and immediately collect as much information as you can (use google, it helps). Check for some key information like duration of project, Delivary manager or project manager ect.

4) Check foe other resumes posted in Job Protels with the same project name and check of the similarities in the resume... if you find two identical resume, then better reject both of the.

5) Go to his employers website and check about his credibility... most of the times a shady employer has a shady reource as well...

End of teh day, We are recruiters and we need to shoue some reserch skills as well. I dont think Background check or reference check need a skill full recruiter...
