Insted of just writing "please dnt tell me that search on google and citehr,i want live discussions..." why don't you write what you understand by the term competency mapping (which I gather you already know by searching previous posts) and then ask for either clarifications or how people have applied it, its benefits and so on?
As I mentioned in my posts before, I am good at asking questions and not answering questions that are too broad and not focussed. I just searched for posts on that and found quite a few threads with attachments, explanations, discussions, etc.
Have a nice day

hello sir...thnx for reply
sir frankly speaking i hav just searched on net because i have just started this project and i hav not visited to any HR manager in any company...
so back to topic....what i understood from compitancy mapping is that it is a process of finding out what are the actuall compitencies of an employee and presently where they are working and if they are working less then there compitencies then how to develop them is called as compitency mapping....
that is all i hav understood but actually this all is a theory so i want to know the practicallity of compitancy mapping....
i am waiting for more questions from your side.....
Thank You...

Shimit,
You are not a child. I have to do the same thing as you, when I have to learn a new thing. But without a good grounding of the concepts you will not know why you are doing. A child may know how to eat by copying adults, but tell me how many know what is good to eat.
Why do you think a search of the web only gives you theory and not application. Please read posts and then make comments.

Dear Shimit,
To start with, one has to start his vision for end usage of competency, like Competency can be used in Recruitment, PMS, Training etc.
Regarding practical exposure, you must know competency of each position, role, job description etc. then only, you will able to map the competency.
One you start mapping process, you need to have proficiency scale for each competency, further you can identify GAP & prepare action plan to fill the gap.

Dear Shimit
The mere fact that you are pursuing a Master level degree shows that you are capable of reading, digesting and understanding. Had you searched the web using the key words from your query, you would have found a lot of answers. For example, there is a 104-page document at http://umn.edu <link updated to site home> This was found at http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en...G=Search&meta=
I hope you read that, digest it, reflect on it and then pose your further questions.
I am sure you will find more sites and read them too.
Have a nice day.
