Myself, Monica working with an IT MNC as an Asst Mgr HR am facing a problem of tarding with few of senior employees. And over a span, fellow staff of such seniors have started taking themselves for granted too. As the problem is at nascent stage, hence to nib it would like to go ahead with some creative solution instead of penalization.
Idea in my mind is like, anyone appearing after flexi window time would have to bell the Wind Chime at the main door so he gets noticed. Another in row is like putting names of latecomers on small slips added to an artificial tree placed somewhere at the centre office....
I need few more to give a thought....
one more clicked my mind is like giving a TITLE to the habitual offender of the week & posting it on intranet.... pls suggest some title if idea sounds okay...
Seeking fair opinions.... & would appreciate an early response...
Have a good day...

How about 1. No Tea / Coffee after the Flexi Window Time... till Lunch Time 2. All offenders give a treat to other members at weekend

Dear Mr. Ajmal,
Thank you for your valuable & so interesting ideas. I liked both of the ideas but am little doubtful bour first one as people will start bringing the drinks from their homes otherwise will start boggling over the pretext that they r not able to concentrate... or bla... stuff.
Second one is very interesting...
Thanks again...
I have observed that u always take pains to reply to almost every query... Keep it up, very appreciable job.
Have a great day..

Monica,
Posting messages on intranet or bulletin board should do the trick...however since you have to deal with senior employees you could also try and allocate some extra responsibility/extra piece of work to make them feel responsible and accounted for.....maybe you might have to ask the respective managers to take care of that.
As for the title..........how does LATITUDE (late attitude!!) sound?.....or hm..LATIDUDE..but if its a dame who defaults.....this might not fit

hi monica...
tell the usual offenders....to treat all his team members with choclates if they come late...this is what i do to my team if they arrive late.. to the office...try this it really workz....it would definetly improve the situation...at your place

Hi,
To me vishal's idea seems good. Since you told that they are senior guys, penalising them in any way would be offending. It could also be dangerous to the company. You never know they could also show out their anger on the other members of the team or dilute the organisational culture.
The idea of giving others chocolates seems good and every one would take it cool. Being in the HR dept we should make people realise their mistake but in a very light manner.

Hi Soumya and Vishal, chocolate idea is great, there are few people who do not want to follow(specially people in Sr position). how do u crack them???. Regards, Madhavi

Hi Monica
well this problem is everywhere,Senior Staff have this tendancy...and to tackle this you should write the general mail to all the staff about late comings...and the punishment.
if you are able to taunt the senior staff they wll come on time...or try to involve top management in this.
another option is deduct the leave as per the rule.
but do this with the permission of your boss otherwise you wll be in trouble.

Some more....
This are not Creative but are effective
1. Let there be a Card Entry System... Ask the Security person to write time with red ink if the person comes in late... Most of the persons won't like red ink on their entry cards.. so would try to avoid it...
2. Keep a attendence register and after the flexi window time get the register to some other inconvinient place...
By the way I am in favour of Flexi timing at work...

Dear Monica,
All the suggestions seems to be quite interesting, nevertheless the fact remains if the defaulters are hell-bent upon not improving their late coming then the other option that seems to be little harsh, but surely effective one could be to deduct half day leave if there is more than three late comings in a month.
