Hi Sridevi,
HR policies are the practices followed within an organization in the form of rules & regulations, code of conduct, training policy, recruitment policy etc. There could be variety of policy depending upon the culture of the organization 7 the maturity of the company. They are usually framed for systematic working & to establish discipline & good behavior within the company.
If you want to understand some specific policy please mention that we shall definitely reply to your mail.

Hi Pooja,
I would like to know what is the notice period which an IT company should ask from:
1) Management
2) Engineers
3) Marketing and HR people.
I believe it should be different for all the categories.
Kindly help.
Thanks and Regards,

Hi Seema,
You are correct, the notice period differs with every position. Every position has different authority, lines of communication & levels of responsibility. The higher you go on the above parameters the more important is your position within the organisation. There is no difference as per functions but notice period differs with positions. In my organisation the notice period for VP & above level is 3 months, for the Middle level management like managerial positions is 2 months and the rest is 1 month. This is framed bcoz the exit of higher end individuals affects the working of the organization directly/indirectly. Secvondly, it is easier to replace people at first level & gets all the more difficult as we go higher in the ladder. Since a lot of issues like confidentiality, trust, values etc are to be checked with the people sitting on the top management. It gets more difficult although not difficult to get the right candidate for that position.

Hi Sri,
It gets a little difficult at times with HR professionals to get into generalist profile after completing few years in specialist profile. But dont worry its not impossible. What you should do is pick up one subject like Performance appraisal and collect as much of information as possible. Keep studying various facets of HR & then once you feel u have good amount of knowledge that you are capable of working on HR processes then you should start appearing for interviews. Or a better way could be ask within your organisation to give u transfer to a different profile. You can also attend seminars conducted on these short cources to keep urself updated with the recent HR trends.
