Hey,
You can try different activities for different set of people even. Say different things for different deptt's. (If people have varied requirements. But someone rightly said that you need to catch the pulse of the people. And aboveall you can not please every one but take the views of the majority or majority consensus and go ahead. Don't bother about what people will say , when your deptts intention is good then no probs. Once the activity is properly publicised then automatically people will attract towards it.
Pls remember that all these activities should keep all people in focus , should not be for one set of people.
All the best

Hi, Celebration of days or festivals, some kind of training (for ex. personality development, wherein there are lots of games and exercises) etc.. Regards, Gaonkar

first get a survey done on what the employees of your company feel. what are thier grievance . Boring training programmes are a serious turn off where people hate hr's for arranging such stuffs,...
find out what is our objective ,what kind of activity are you looking 4ward to ,
the activity should be kind of fun , this cab be kind of brain stroming games , that actually will make employeees look forward to it .
EVERY BODY LIKES CHALLENGES , SO give them some thing that will help them use thier brain .
the catch lineis think out of the box:lol:

Hi ,
Employee engagement programme should help us to increase Team work /team building with in employees at the same time should have fun.
You can conduct business quiz based on no of nominees you can make teams and also plan rounds(elimination ,prelims...).
conduct some team building activities. You can make employees owners of the event and ask them to conduct activity one week may be you can ask department wise to conduct events, which makes them involve in the event .
as you start conducting events ,you will come up with your own Ideas, remember reward the winners with some surprise gifts which definately motivates them to participate.
Happy working....!!

You could try some of the engagement activities like
  • Fun week - Various competitions/ contest each day like .
  • Colour Week - Dress colour codes
  • Food carnival - employees to cook & displya thru food stalls on chargeable basis
  • On mail quiz
  • Cubicle decoration competition
There are many more that you could do to make the environment very lively.
Hope this would have helped.

Though some of the so called fun activities may also help in engaging employees temporarily, first let us be very clear what is the terminology of 'employee engagement'.

Employee engagement is defined as the state of intellectual and emotional involvement employees have in an organization. The involvement, understanding and motivation an employee has in his/her job and employee's attitudinal attachment towards the organization shows actual engagement of employee. Key drivers of employee engagement would be majorly the cultural and value integration across the organization through our HR systems.

A Gallup study (precisely little old, but still valid) shows the following break up of actual employee's employment:

Only 36% of employees are actually engaged -
These employees are loyal and psychologically committed to the organization. They are more productive, more likely to stay with their company for more than a year, less likely to have accidents on the job, and less likely to steal.

49% of employees are not engaged -
These employees may be productive, but they are not psychologically connected to their company. They are more likely to miss workdays and more likely to leave.

15% of employees are actively disengaged -
These employees are physically present but psychologically absent. They are unhappy with their work situation and insist on sharing this unhappiness with their colleagues.

Please do write for more discussions on this topic.
