Dear Seniors, I am striving to gain a particular career from the organization I am currently working for. However, my efforts to make my boss understand this have all gone futile. Above all, I am sidelined/kept isolated on almost all occasions. I find my boss appreciating me for tasks for which I am overqualified and being friendly with me only occasionally. I am wanting to address this with my seniors who sit overseas. Could you please guide me so that I do not sound complaining and at the same time I could put across my point of getting me involved?
Thanks & regards

Dear Pleasehelp,

Here's what you can do:

- have a one-to-one discussion with your boss about your career aspirations and expectations from the company you are working for.
- ask him what qualities/skills does he think you should improve on in order to achieve your goals.
- dont wait for your boss to give you work or assign you to some job. Be proactive and suggest to your boss about your interest in taking up a particular assignment.
- if your boss doesnt share information without then look for other sources instead of wasting time complaining. But stay informed about whats going on ur dept and in ur company in general.

U will have to prove to ur boss that u r more capable than what he thought and that you can take up serious and complex assigments at work with confidence.

Such problems are pretty common in any work environment and taking this to ur seniors at overseas will seem a little immature. However, if you feel things r getting outta hand then pl go ahead....as a last resort.

hope this helped.

Dear ....

I M sorry I dont want to call u by the name "PLEASE HELP".. So I should call u Freind .

anyway Freind Please dont worry ,,,things will get alright .. U jst need to give time to your work and be smart in working and presenting whatever u do in a logical & soft manner ..

Never say No to ur Boss but at the same time what ever u do as per his delegation keep a record of that signed by him and CC to some of ur other collegue too.

Try to be a proactive subordinate and protect ur boss in public even if u know that he is not right .. Just Support him for the shake of ur departmental integration and later on u can softly advice and take his burden on ur shoulder ..
You will find gradually he will start depending on u and to retain u with himself he will start thinking about ur career growth and ur job profile ..

So Freind we are always there to support u .. Please Dont Loose Heart ..
Be Cool and just always wear a smile on your face.. it helps a lot in fighting internal problems
Good Luck

take care

Hi Friends,
I am entirely agree with Deepthi. Friend you should talk to your boss initially, pls do one to one session with him, tell him all your problems and queries. May be you both are misinterpretting each other.
So pls talk to your boss firstly, instead of complaining the overseas seniors.

Well I have a message for those who got angry by the comments of Bad Looser.

We have a case study put up by one of our member and as told by one member we surely should empathize with him/her.

But if we correctly read the post it is derived that the poster is calling his boss as wierd, and stating the incidences in which he claims that his boss is acting wierd. But need not necessary what he/she told about their boss might be true. It could also be otherwise, and this person who posted this thread might be in real need of psycological help, so your ideas like having one to one with boss how can it help if in real scenario the boss is correct in their place and this person is unnecessarily cribbing about the boss.

SAD SAD thing isthat major members on this cite failed to understand Bad Loosers point of view and directly started abusing him. Shame on you people who dont even know how to solve case studies, and start giving ur replies based on hearing only one persons view and without getting detailed data. Imaging u being the good boss and if ur subordinate is having such problem and accuses you by taking one to one meeting how will you feel. So before giving any advice think twice and to those who post their problems before acting on any advice think 4 times.

Now let me analyse the problem of thread starter::

Dear Seniors,

I am striving to gain a particular career from the organisation I am currently working for. However, my efforts to make my boss understand this have all gone futile.
Above all I am sidelined/kept isolated on almost all the occassions.

DEAR THERE ARE MANY OCCASIONS WHICH BOSSES DONT LIKE TO TELL OR INVOLVE THEIR SUBORDINATES AND ITS NORMAL, MIGHT BE EITHER SUBORDINATE WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND THE ISSUE OR THE ISSUE MIGHT BE OF SOME IMPORTANCE OR BOSS WISHES TO KEEP IT SECRET, SO DOES THAT MEAN BOSS IS WIERD

I find my boss appreciating me for tasks for which I am overqualified and being friendly with me only occasionally.

WELL BE HAPPY UR BOSS APPRECIATED YOU. AND DONT EXPECT ALL JOBS WHICH U GET TO BE AT PAR WITH YOUR QUALIFICATIONS . AND I NEVER KNEW BOSS HAD TO BE FRIENDLY WITH YOU, NOW HERE I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN BY BEING FRIENDLY...:wacko:

I am wanting to address this to my seniors who sit overseas. Could you please guide me so that I do not sound complaining and at the same time I could put across my point of getting me involved.

Thanks & regards

SO BADLOOSERS COMMENT IS ALSO RIGHT FROM THE OTHER POINT OF VIEW..

Dear Friend
I think your boss has made a perception about you. I agree with my colleagues that you should directly talk with your boss instead of involving other people as it would further worsen the situation. Direct communication would provide you deep insight into the perception that your boss had in his mind about you. It happens sometimes that we feel neglected or ignored in important projects particulary when we know that we are better qualified and skilled in accomplishing the same but the boss selects some one else to do the job. Don't be dishearted and have a positive approach. Wish you best of luck.

Dear Mr Bad looser,

My kindly advise is never de-motivate to any person, when you can motivate him. As an HR first listen and give best possible option. Your are like if person want to do suicide directly drag him to building top and say him to jump.

Dear Mr HELP,
Never give up HOPE and remember this "BOSS IS ALWAYS RIGHT"

As HR personnel understand what your BOSS want??This is really challenging situation for you and itself learning. BOSS will never say their liking and disliking, it is you had to identify it.

In recent case, i had late meeting (night 11 pm) with my Chairman. Next day he said we can continue with same thing. Obviously i was ready with all the required material, and waited for his call. But he did not call me. At 11 am he left the office with serious glance at me. This was real surprising that it seems i had done something wrong.

The next moment i went to Director and narrated the entire story. He said, next time, don't wait for his call. After a month again the same thing had happen. So next day after he reached i directly approached him with all the materials as discussed in last night meeting.

Tips i recomment
1. Identify/Understand what he wants, don't try to change the existing system.
2. Be ready when the task is been given and show/inform him after completion not making longing.
3. Take BOSS work as most priotise work.
4. Don't ever show your inside feeling as HR personnel (in any case).
5. Lastly but not the least, don't ever expects your BOSS to CHANGE. Change yourself as soon as possible but not comprising/breaking with your ethics/principles.

Enjoy YAAR. Everywhere you will find these type person (More or Less)
