If an employee shows up for a scheduled shift and is sent home for reasons beyond the employers control (power loss, hazardous situation, etc...) are there minimum pay requirements?
Similarly, if an employee arrives for a scheduled shift and is terminated upon arrival (pre-planned by the employer) are there pay requirements for that day?
Thank You!

It is more of an IR question than HR,
I think we are talking here of the employees who get salary for the hours they work.... industrial labourers
Well if the Employee is sent back because of power or some uncontrolable factors.... he needs to be given some other shift.... If he turns up for the next shift and still he is not provided work.... 50% payment needs to be given
Normally this factors are negotiated between the Trade Unions and the management.... So if the management delibrately takes such step... chances are they might have to face IR problems with the trade union..

It also depends upon industry to industry.
On either case as mentioned by my friend.
1 day salary needs to be paid if he turns up for the shift for the day he is not able to work for other reasons.
No salary to be paid if he is terminated for indiscipline. :)
