Hi,
There is no particular defined methodology for Headhunting. It depends on the Recruiter the way he approaches. Wheather it could be through finding a telephone number or a mail transaction which requires a great homework. Headhunting is used to target key members in any organization and mostly in senior management people. It may be either through reference or a formal talk or any other mode of initiating contact.
Hope it gives a bit idea to your approach.
thanks

Hi Ravi,
Would like to thank Kunal for the ppt.
Let me share some of my thoughts on this :
1. Head Hunting is a proactive approach to find the Talented professionals and network with them to place them for your clients or your company. It is usually done for the skills sets which are difficult to get esp for the senior positions – hence a talent which is not easily available and targets the passive job seekers or those profiles are not available in the job portals.
2. Best way to find out the best professionals is to check the market & references, if you are looking for a top notch sales professional in FMCG sector for your client then the people in the market, distributors, retailers & stockists etc would give information on that . Yes its a bit of a leg work but that's the best way to hunt the professionals.
Or check with Technical institutes which conduct the Talent test or invite students to solve the relevant problems..
Use tools like Linkedin or attend the technical seminars & network with your contacts to frame the Organization structure and build a database of your own.
3. Once done, plan the way to approach them in a subtle manner. Meet them if possible as don't limit your approach to phone calls. Assess them and keep their profiles with you.
4. It's a High Relationship based and trust is very essential.
5. If you find something lacking in them, tell them subtlely as you want them to rise in the Corporate World. Frankly not many consultants do that and the professionals feel they are just the products in the hands of Head Hunters/consultants.
6. Network & network and make the potential list , keep track of their performances, read everything about the Industry.
7. Present them to your clients or your company if you feel that it would be a cultural fit and meet the clients future plans & potential of the candidates.

Head Hunting is a process where it is used to get Sr.Professionals in any type os organisations irrespective of sector , Category or industry they are working.
If u could do some ground work such as getting the target companies, mapping the companies hierarchy depending upon functional area .
Two methods to do head hunt
easier way
catch any jr candidate from target company of same fuctional area and explain him any false opening get the information of reporting structure .
From that u can get the hierarchial structure of company , then u can call to board line and ask about the concern person.
Another method u can call the target company board line ask him to connect concern dept u want. while Speaking to the concern person , say some false stories and ask him about the HOD's & reporting structure.
After getting the names & designation, again call to board line ask him to connect concern person. After got connected, ask his permission whether it is good time to speak or not and then proceed about the opening
