I am responsible to conduct the background check (for previous employment) for the existing and new employees.
Unfortunately I do not have any format on how to do it nor a checklist.
Would be grateful, if anybody can help me with a checklist for the same .

Based on the client requirement you can have reference/background checks process for your company. There are agencies that do reference checks for companies

5. Reference

You can find out the following when doing a ref check.
1. How long the person was working with the organization, since when?
2. What was her resignation when she joined and resigned
3. What was her strenght and areas of improvement
You also need to check the followign parameters
a. Integrity & Character
b. Interpersonal relations
c. Result orientation
d. Overall performance record
e. Commitment
f. Discipline
g. Check if any disciplinary action is taken or not.
Reference check initially will be done from the previous employer and then after he joins we will do with the current emloyer.
