Can someone please tell me if there's a difference between nonrenewal, termination, and dismissal? Thanks.

nonrenewal is that your contract does not get renewed at the end of your last contract term. sometimes you get creidt for the year, sometimes you do not.
termination or dismissal is about the same, meaning being fired unwillingly. you may get a few months credit.
what triggers nonrenewal, and what termination, dismissal? I could not figure out. Maybe when the malignant PD misses a dose of his psych med would trigger either one at any time (nonrenewal at end of term).
when you are going to find a new program, the new program presumes that the PD did it for a justified reason - meaning you have to admit your fault. In other words, they 'think' you must be very bad because supposedly the program did everything to educate you and you could not be educated and have to be fired. In their subconsciousness, they must be thinking some of these are still strong residents - otherwise, they would not be seeking to hire one o f these failing residents in other programs. what a contradiction!

Yeah, I see what you're saying, but I think the terms are viewed differently in the eyes of licensing boards and others.
I think termination or dismissal or being asked to leave means that you were essentially fired during the course of your residencey training for one reason or another.
I believe this is looked at differntly than nonrenewal, which simply means you did not get offered a contract for the upcoming year.
Any comments?

for all you have to explain why it happened nontheless - what makes the difference is what kind of letters you get really. nonrenewal without any credits is no better situation, i think, than a dismissal. nonrenewal with credits, you still need to discuss your competency. it maybe better than a dismissal - at least you got one year's credit. you have to show that you are competent for the next level somehow. it sucks and is difficult either way.
to the medical board, it maybe a different story - each medical board is even different (what a messed up system for messed up people).
