Dear Members,I have come across a problem- A person joine as a LDC on 21st Jan.1982 at the scale of Rs. 290/-PM. He retired on 6th May, 2005 from a senoir post and drawing a salary of Rs. 22,000/-. How much gratuity he shall recieve?No other clues (regarding D A or else are available.)How to calculate and what would be the amount?Pls help.
From India, Bhopal
Gratuity is calculated on the basis of the following formula :
Gratuity= (last basic)x15 days x (no. of years of continuous service)/ 26
Conditions : 1. He must work for at least 5 years.
2. Only last basic salary will be taken for calculation
3. Is it the consolidated salary or if there is any basic component in the salary-please check it. Otherwise the amount Rs 22000/- will be taken as basic salary.
Hope it will help you.

Dear Mr.Amit Murthy,
I was just going thru your document on calculation of Gratuity Amount .Would like to know why there was no DA included for the calculation .Have you forgotten to add or it is not mandatory on the part of the company to include DA....

Dear All, I want to point out one thing. Gratuity is not calculated on basic only but it is calculated on PF salary which is basic plus DA.
