Hi,
As our company policy, an employee needs to give the company 1 week notice for termination during probationary period. However, our company encountered employee who leave without giving the necessary notice eventhough they have signed and agreed on the employement agreement.
Currently we have an employee who leaves us after taking his salary on the 28th of the month (our pay day is on 28th of every month). On 30th he sent an email to HR to tender his resignation. We have tried to call him on his handphone but he did not answer the call.
How can we control on this? What is your opinion?

hi sherene,

Whether the salary date is on 28th, 5th or 10th that doesn’t matter, If employee decided to leave the organization he will plan in such way that he receive the salary and quit.

As HR we have to analysis what is the best way to retain the employee in the organization.

During probation period for an employee it is the process of understanding the organization.
We as HR should make new employee feel comfortable with working style of the organization.
Main important point we should avoid the group decision of the new staffs.
Explain the Reporting system of the organization for the smooth flow of work.
Defiantly regularly consulling is required for new staff.
By consulling we can sense the interesting level of the employee towards the organization. If we have find any negative aspect in the employee regarding the organization we can immediately solve the issues to certain level and make him/her
Comfortable in the organization.
Make them feel that they are important resource to the organization.
Assigned the project and intimate it crucial project assigned to him/her based on the potentials they have.

By above points we can atleast expect that they intimate us and leave the organization in the professional way.

iam 100% agreeing with lavanya. Iam not a HR guy and belongs the project department. In my carrier i have seen the HR people ( most of them) not make any steps as lavnaya told to counsel the employee. Even though when we are working in tight schedule in the projects , if the HR people will come and discuss us with personally iam sure that persons mind will think of postponing or cancel his decision of resignation.
first talk to the epmployees . thats the very very important step
